Two Peas in a Prada Home Tour

One of the most requested posts we get is home tours. Since Joe and I just moved into a new house, I figured it was the perfect time to share a little bit of our home with you all.

This post is going to be divided into two parts. My favorite room in the house — which I fondly refer to as “hair & makeup” deserves its own post so that will be up next week!

Last month, Joe and I found out pretty suddenly that we needed to move. It was horrible timing. It was right before Memorial Day and really close to the end of the school year– which meant things at work were hectic for me. I frantically searched everywhere for a new place to live. If you aren’t familiar with the Bay Area rental market — saying it’s competitive is putting it nicely. It is cut throat. So when I found this house, I went to extreme lengths to get it. But I’m so glad I did. Even though we don’t own the house, it still feels like a new chapter in our lives. We moved out of our dreary apartment in Pacifica, into this bright and airy house in Daly City. We have a yard, a driveway, windows, and a deck — which all seem like such luxuries here. Sure we had to give up a lot — microwave, dishwasher, and disposal– but it was so worth it.

We love the new house so much — it seems so different from being in an apartment. It’s hard to explain, but it feels more our own. We definitely have a lot of work to do. But I wanted to go ahead and show you guys what I can for right now! While this is not our perfect home — it’s not a sprawling mansion, with granite countertops and walk-in closets — that is unrealistic for where I live. It is so nice to be able to have a place that I can actually share with you guys and blog about! I hope you like it.

Pillows: c/o Minted

Since we finally have a place with lots of windows and light, I wanted to brighten up the decor a little bit. These pillows are called “Summer Fun” and that they are! I love the blue and purple accents. They are bright enough to appease me, but still masculine enough to keep Joe from saying it’s “too girly.” They come in seven different colors and four different sizes so the mixing and matching possibilities are endless!

Book

I have a thing for coffee table books. And Gray Malin. So when this book came out, it was a no brainer for me. It was one of the first things I ordered when we found out we were moving.

Candle

Every year at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, I stock up on the three-pack of these candles. I love to always have them on hand in a pinch for giving a gift, or just to brighten up a room.

This lacquer tray is one of my favorite new pieces that we got for the house. The print on the bottom is interchangeable, which is absolutely genius– you can also take it out if you just want the tray to be clear. The candle was a house warming gift from my girlfriend, Hiliary, who obviously knows my vibes.

Kitchen:

Our kitchen definitely needs some work. The floors are brown and we had no cabinet space underneath the sink 🙁 But this little breakfast nook makes up for everything else that I hate about the room. This is where I do the majority of my blogging. So it’s a nice makeshift office. I love the bright colors, the window, and sitting by my books. Joe and I eat dinner here together almost every night, so I have really come to enjoy this little corner of our house.

Apothecary Jar c/o Minted

I can’t say enough about this apothecary jar. I absolutely LOVE it. I think it is so fun and I love how you can change out what’s inside so easily. I think this will be super fun to play around with seasonally, and especially for holidays! I’ll be sure to keep you guys posted on what I put inside. Stay tuned for Part 2 of my home tour next week!
