One of the reasons I love this blog so much – is that I really love clothing. I believe that the right piece of clothing can really help you live your best life.
I love the way a dress, or shirt, or skirt can make any woman feel like they can take on the world. I love the confidence that slipping on the right pair of jeans can give you. I love the fact that donning a leather jacket over your shoulders can make you feel like a total badass. I love that stepping into the right pair of shoes can totally transform your day. I wholeheartedly believe that the right clothing can help elevate a women’s confidence, and help them feel like the best version of themselves. It’s one of the reasons I love styling for others so much.
I love putting together outfits that make women feel like the most beautiful versions of themselves.
But what about swimwear? For whatever reason, swimwear can make even the most confident women among us – myself 100% included – feel self conscious. When I got to thinking about this… 1.) I felt dumb… and 2.) I felt like I wanted to find a swimsuit that made me feel like my most confident self… a woman living her best life… just 7 weeks after having a baby.
Obviously this was no easy task. But with summer right around the corner, I knew for myself and for our readers that I had better get to work. Just as I knew the right dress could make any woman feel like the best version of herself, I knew that the right bathing suit could make me feel that way too.
I just had to find it.
So I made a list of non-negotiables. Much like when you’re trying to find the perfect man – the same list applies for finding the perfect suit.
- Something supportive, but not suffocating
- Something sexy, but not trying too hard
- Something classic, but with a twist
- Something that will stand the test of time
Let me tell you – I had my reservations. I went to dinner with my girlfriends, Kristin and Megan, the week before and asked, “What the hell am I doing?” To which they both responded, “It’s going to be great… just stop.” I texted my photographer Kourtney with my worries as I unpacked the swimsuit – to which she replied, “Em – you’re beautiful.” Sometimes I think it takes a couple of your closest people to believe in you, before you actually believe in yourself. That was totally the case here. Thankfully, by the time the morning of our shoot rolled around, I was feeling good.
I slipped on this amazing black one piece – like I said – from L*Space, and all my fears disappeared. It was supportive in all the right places, it covered exactly what it needed to, and I could imagine that if I were with my kids and needed to breastfeed on the beach – it would be THE perfect suit for that too. Not to mention – The coverup and hat you see in these photos – also from L*Space are amazing as well.
So ladies – if you’re looking for THE perfect suit – a suit that is sure to make you feel like you’re living your best life – look no further. This one is absolutely amazing.
Sizing notes for this post – I am wearing a size Medium in the coverup, and I am wearing a size 6 in the suit. FYI L*Space (in my opinion) tends to run on the smaller size, so if you are in-between sizes, be sure to size up! Be sure to check out this coverup as well!
Lastly – a note also about Zappos… I love Zappos for SO many reasons. Their customer service is amazing, everything ships super quickly, and their return policy is fantastic as well. What’s more – being able to try on swimsuits, at my leisure, and in the comfort of my home is such a game changer for me. I’m a busy mom – and let me tell you – my 2 year old isn’t going to sit still in a department store while I try on bathing suits. So if you’re like me – be sure to head to Zappos, and check out L*Space. You’ll be oh-so happy you did!
Thank you to the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa for hosting this shoot – as you can see it is absolutely stunning!!!
