Hotel Valencia // Santana Row Staycation

A lof of you may not know this, but Emily and I went to college together at Santa Clara University. Being away from our families and living in the dorms was a huge adjustment for us. We always looked forward to visits from our parents. Not only because we got to see them, but because that meant we got to stay with them at the Hotel Valencia on Santana Row.

Santana Row is like a little slice of heaven nestled in the middle of San Jose. It reminds me of a mini Rodeo Drive. They have the best restaurants, designer stores, and cute boutiques. It has been a “happy place” of ours for over a decade.

When the 49ers moved their stadium down to Santa Clara, I was one of the only fans who was happy about it. When my dad came for the opening weekend, I got to go back to Hotel Valencia for the first time since college. It smelled the exact same, and when I walked in, I got an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. The row itself had changed so much, but the hotel was the same. Modern, chic, and welcoming.

So of course, when given the chance to go back for a romantic staycation with Joe, I jumped at the opportunity. I was so excited to show him this place that meant so much to me!

Unfortunately, Joe got sick the day we were scheduled to go. So it wasn’t that romantic. However, we still got in some good exploring and there really is no better place to be sick in bed. We had an amazing lunch at LB Steak, we sat outside and shared shrimp and steak tartare. I ordered the lobster club, and OMG, it was SO good. After lunch, we shopped around a bit, and checked out all of the new stores that Santana Row had to offer.

We had the most incredible room — the staff said it was the most highly requested one. And I can see why. It was so gorgeous. The balcony and the view were unreal! I showed Joe around the hotel: my favorite: V bar, the pool, Terrace (the best breakfast!), and Cielo, the rooftop wine bar and terrace. The staff was so supportive, and even sent up chocolate covered strawberries and champagne! I can not wait to go back — we already talked about another stay the night before a 49er game!
