My little guy, William, is an outdoor enthusiast through and through. Every weekend, as soon as we pick him up from school, we do the “weekend dance” (where I pick him up, bounce him around from side to side, and chant “It’s the weekend, it’s the weekend, it’s the weekend”) and immediately after he asks, like clockwork, “we doin (going) to Tahoe?!?” Every weekend, like clockwork, it’s the same magical twinkle in his eyes, the same adorable smile, and the same bubbling excitement of what a weekend, outside, in his favorite place might hold.

For our whole relationship, Tahoe has been an important place for Joe and I. When we were living apart for our engagement, and our first year of marriage for my job, it is the place we would go to reset. When we got Henry, we would take him up there every weekend to go hiking and swimming. We got married there, we bought a house there, and to this day, it is still our “special place”. The fact that our child takes so much joy in a place that means so much to us, is one of our life’s greatest blessings. We are so excited to build a lifetime of memories  there together.

On this specific day, when we took these photos, I told William we were going on a nature walk – and of course he couldn’t have been more excited. He loves climbing on rocks, jumping through pine needles, and playing hide and go seek behind the trees.

Before we left the house he said, “momma I wear my boo snow dacket? And my boo snow hat?” Of course he’s talking about his new winter gear from Burton via Zappos. He’s in love with the fleece inside of this hoodie and the mountains on the front. Every time we put it on, he points to them and says “dere’s snow up dere, Momma?” And I say, “yes, Bud, SO much snow on the mountains.” Also – William pretty much hated hats until we picked up this set of three – also from Burton, via Zappos. They are amazing. They’re a very soft knit, not too oversized, and they keep his ears warm everywhere we go. I am so excited to gift him more Burton goodies this winter, and I know he’ll be just as excited to receive them. If you have a little guy or girl in your life – you have to check out Burton this winter – you will be oh-so happy you did!
