Ashley’s Current Skincare Routine

Ashley Zeal from Two Peas in a Prada shares her current skincare routine including her favorite brands: Elemis & Colleen Rothschild.

A few weeks ago, I did a beauty Q & A on stories after I showed how I use the Nurse Jamie Uplift and I got SO many requests for a current skincare routine post. First, a little background. I am 31, with normal to oily skin. I suffered from acne really bad when I was younger and was on Accutane for a full year. I know there are a ton of products in this photo, and it looks super overwhelming. But I am only going to talk about my absolute favorites.

Shop my Skincare Routine:

Morning:

The very first thing I do every single morning is put on a pot of water. While my water is heating up, I chug a huge glass of water and take my probiotic and vitamins. Then I make my collagen tea. I put two scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides into whatever tea I am making for the day. Not only is the collagen good for your hair, nails, and skin, but the 18g of protein will keep you full for a bit, and give you a head start on hitting that protein goal (if you count macros). They sell this at Sephora now, in case you needed any more convincing that this is a true beauty product. FYI: do not buy the single packets — the serving is only half of what it should be, if you want it on the go, just keep your powder in a ziplock bag.

I use more gentle products on my face in the morning. I am usually always running around, or working out, and there is nothing worse than having retinol or glycolic acid drip into your eye when you’re sprinting on the treadmill. I have been loving the Elemis Superfood Cleanser. I then apply a serum (either this Elemis one, or this Colleen Rothschild one), to do my facial massage with. Depending on the day I will do facial massage with: my hands, jade roller, ice roller, Gua Sha boards, or the Nurse Jamie Uplift. The Nurse Jamie Uplift is becoming my favorite, and I find myself reaching for it more and more. I finish off with a moisturizer that has SPF, the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream with SPF 30 is amazing, or if you want a good option on a budget, Olay Whips is great, too!

Nighttime:

I take my night time skincare VERY seriously. I always remove my makeup with a cleansing balm or micellar water. I never ever ever ever use a makeup wipe. My favorites are the Elemis or the Colleen Rothschild. There is only a $1 difference in price, but if I had to choose one, it would be the Elemis. Next, I use a gentle cleanser. This Balancing Gel Cleanser has been amazing. There is never an ounce of makeup left on my towel when I dry off my face.  I will use a toner if I remember or am not too tired. Then I use this Age Renewal Super Serum. Next is eye cream – I love this one. I go back and forth with the moisturizers I use. If I’m feeling dry I use this one, or if my skin feels pretty good, I use this one. I always finish with an oil; there are stains on my Slip pillowcase but that’s totally okay with me. I just ran out of this, so I am using this and love it. I don’t notice a huge difference between the two.

FYI: We have a Colleen Rothschild discount code that gets you 20% off all products on her site! It’s PRADA20.

Weekly and Sometimes Products:

If I have a shoot or am looking tired. I will ALWAYS use these eye masks. They are my absolute favorite. Pro tip: keep them in the fridge. I bought this treatment essence after I saw everyone and their mothers raving about it — I truly don’t get it but try to use it when I remember because it was so expensive. I could be not seeing results because I don’t use it on a daily basis. I love Sunday Riley’s treatment products. I regularly rotate between Good Genes and Luna. For toners, I like this one and this one. But I am trying a new one from Ren that I will keep you updated on.

I try to do a mask once a week. If my skin is dry I LOVE the Jet Lag Mask by Summer Fridays. I sleep with this on; it truly fills in all your fine lines and you wake up with the skin of a baby. This one and this one by Origins are always in the rotation too.

I also try to do a peel once a week. I love this Papaya Enzyme Peel and this Dual Enzyme Peel.
