When Joe and I first got engaged, I was so excited to be sharing the news but was still trying to live in the moment, so I didn’t share any details right away! Now that it’s been a few months, I have finally settled into this fianceé life. We had yet to celebrate with our families yet, so I wanted to make sure we did that before this post went up. When the opportunity came up for a couples collab with Ted Baker, I thought these photos would be the perfect time to share our engagement story!

Our Engagement Story:
As much as I hate to admit it, Joe is a huge Lakers fan. So, for Christmas, I sucked it up and got him tickets to a Lakers game down in LA. It just so happened to fall on his Birthday weekend, too so it was perfect! We stayed at the Intercontinental DTLA and absolutely fell in love with the hotel and area! It was a super rainy weekend in LA, so we didn’t really get to do much exploring.
We had a great weekend, ate some really good food, drove to Malibu, Joe finally got to meet my best friend from college, and of course, did just a little shopping on Melrose.
Since we designed the ring together, I knew that it was coming soon but I for sure thought it would be while we were in Tulum next month. I didn’t even have one suspicion the whole time we were there. The game was on the last night and I could not have been dressed more casually. I was wearing this tracksuit — what a surprise, lol! And my nails weren’t done — it was bad!
Staples Center is walking distance from our hotel so we walked to and from the game. The Lakers beat the Cavs that night and on the walk back to the hotel, Joe took me off the main street and got down on one knee! I could not believe it! I think I was in shock because I don’t remember a single word he said! I couldn’t believe he had the box in his pocket during the whole game and I had no idea! We Facetimed my mom and my best friends and then headed to the most gorgeous rooftop bar to celebrate!
I always said I wanted a low-key proposal and Joe knows me so well. It was honestly perfect. Now, DTLA will always be a special place to us — and I guess the Lakers too (Go Dubs!!!).
As far as wedding planning is going, we are still in the beginning stages, but I created a category for it on the blog here, so you can all follow along! Right now, we are interviewing planners and getting ready for our engagement party on June 2nd!
I am already starting to compile some “bridal” pieces together so I know I will have some options for all of the events coming up. The first thing I am adding to this collection are these gorgeous shoes! I am completely in love and they are impeccably made. The rose gold color is beautiful and perfect for any summer events you guys have coming up!
