It’s finally here — the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 Early Access! In case you missed this post, we’ll give you a quick run-down. This is the biggest and best sale of the year. We love it so much because it’s all new pieces for fall. Not things that didn’t sell the past few months. Not things that last season. Not things that were overstocked. ALL NEW STUFF! We love to stock up on cardigans, leggings, and booties…but we also love to buy fun statement pieces that we know will jump in price as soon as the sale is over.
Head to our Instastories now for our first thoughts from the sale, as well as the things we use and love that are included in the sale! We will do several extensive posts broken down by category and price – today is just our first thoughts and reactions.

Speaking of sweaters, this is the first category I am hitting this year. I still wear all of my cardigans from years passed and am in need of some new ones to mix it up! This leopard print cardigan is the first item I’m grabbing – no matter what it will sell out day one. While we’re on cardigans that are going to sell out, this Topshop one will also go fast – last year the colors and sizes left for public access were minimal. I still wear that one all the time, so the quality is fab! The Leith Cardigan is just about as good as they come. I bought two last year (they were a different shape), but they are SO soft and hold up incredibly well. You can’t beat the price or the color selection! This BP longline cardigan comes in amazing colors for such a good price. I love this one too – the side slits on the side are premium and it’s super slouchy and soft – sizing up in this one for a cozier fit. This lightweight pullover is a great deal at just $25, and it also comes in 6 colors! Honorable mention goes to this v-neck one, I originally loved it in the catalog, mainly for the color!
This coat was the first thing that caught my eye in the catalog and it was SO good in person. Halogen also had a really good teddy coat, but lord knows I have enough coats. If you don’t have one in your closet, get this! The BlankNYC ones are also so good – I picked up this faux leather drapey one because I don’t have a leather jacket like this and the price was too good.
Personally, I did not pick up any denim or shoes this year. I just really don’t need either, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great options! I have these Spanx jeans at home in black, and I love them. And if you haven’t tried a pair of Good Americans yet, this is the time.
Here’s a tip: buy cozy clothes during the sale. This year the loungewear selection is legit AF. The Barefoot Dreams stuff is going to go ASAP, and I love all my stuff from them. I love this wrap for cuddling at home or travel. This short sleeve lounge cardigan which is perfect for layering. I also picked up a lot of the Something Navy loungewear like this satin PJ set, and this loungewear set.
Two of my favorite pairs of Zella leggings are a part of the sale – the Live In and the 7/8 with Pockets. You know I am a Zella stan and truly believe you are missing out if you don’t have any. 99% of days, I am wearing them. I also got the Alo leggings, joggers, and this cozy pullover that I already own in pink.
With every year that passes with this sale, some things change, but a lot stays the same. This year, they revamped the Wubby Pullover– the inside is more fleecey and the zipper is cuter! This Oribe set is SUCH a good deal — getting two just to have because the texturizing spray is something I always need on hand. I bought different candles this year. Currently burning this one as I type.

We don’t have a Nordstrom in Reno, so I never get to shop the sale in person. Because of that, Ashley and I decided it would be fun for me to fly into SF and to shop the sale together. I mentioned this on stories last week, but I think I shop the sale a little bit differently than most people. I love to buy things that I might not usually buy if they were full price. I like to use the sale as an excuse to step outside of my comfort zone. Like everyone else, I obviously love to shop the sale to pick out sweaters, tees and jeans — but I also LOVE to pick out some fun statement pieces as well.
As influencers, we get a sneak peek of what is included in the sale ahead of time – so I already knew exactly what I wanted. Coats and jackets are always at the top of my list. I have self admitted coat problem. That being said… these are my top picks. I am OBSESSED with this checked one. I love the colors and I love that I can wear it with leggings, jeans or over a LBD this winter. I also immediately bought this stunning tweed jacket. I know it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the quality is AMAZING, the gold buttons give it that “something special” and it just has a very Chanel vibe to me. I also love this brown tweed jacket – it is stunning, classic, and a piece you will wear for many years to come. I am going to scour the sale for the perfect camel coat this morning. I bought one in the sale last year and it sold out very quickly – so I will try to find the perfect one for you again.
As far as accessories go, there are a ton of great ones included in the sale. I wasn’t really shopping for accessories, but I did pick up this amazing camel colored hat with snakeskin trim, and this amazing light blush colored hat as well! They are both super affordable and I know you will love them. The camel colored one has a very tall middle section which I absolutely LOVE. I have a long forehead and it totally covers the whole thing. 🙂 Bras aren’t really accessories, but as you all know the Butter Bra is my favorite bra in the WHOLE WIDE world and IT IS PART OF THE SALE! If you’re looking for a cute black belt – I really liked this one.
Now lets talk about two designer items that I am obsessed with from the sale. As you know, Ashley and I are both obsessed with our Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots and we wear them all fall and winter long. If you haven’t purchased them in years past – these are a part of the sale. The heel height is toatlly modest and I feel that you could easily wear these all through the winter months without breaking your ankle! We promise… they are worth every penny. I have had mine for three years now and I wear them almost every day in the fall and winter. We understand that not everyone wants to invest that in a pair of shoes, so if you want to get the OTK boot trend for less – these over the knee boots are also part of the sale and less expensive. UNDER $100!!!
The other designer item I found when shopping the sale in store was this AMAZING Missoni poncho. It is so beautiful and such a great deal. I love that I can wear it now with a white tank and white jeans. In the fall I will be wearing it with a white long sleeve and dark denim. And then in the winter It will go perfectly with a black long sleeve and leather leggings. It is SO versatile!
The next item I want to discuss is this amazing cashmere poncho. It comes in 3 colors, it is SO soft, and it looks SO much more expensive than it is. The best part about this poncho is that it is reversible. One side is a light camel color and the other side is more of a dark cognac. It is truly stunning!
Now to the BP Tee. We shared this on our Instagram stories a couple of times, but if you missed it… the BP tee that is usually something we both buy during the sale is just TOO short this year. We had multiple readers confirm this as well – so we would not recommend buying it. However – the lace trim cami – is amazing this year and SUPER cute. I got the black and white polka dot one and I love it!
NEXT…. Let’s talk about PJs and LOUNGE. The best set that we found was BY FAR the BP set (top here) It is SO stinking soft and it comes in the best patterns and colors. I have been wearing it the past two days on stories in a blush pink camo pattern – and you have all been waiting for it! I also bought this Topshop Set because I love the color and it is super cozy as well.
Now to dresses… I was gifted this black and white tweed number from Eliza J and it is SOOOO amazing. The quality is fantastic and I love that you can wear it to work and then to drinks with the girls. I have talked about it countless times, but I thank that the fit and flare is the most flattering silhouette. I shot this dress yesterday and I love it for our working girls. Eliza J also sent me this jumpsuit and it is really amazing for the holidays. I will probably wear mine for Thanksgiving. It is super flattering. Lastly – I bought this leopard slip dress that is featured in the post and it is SOOO good. I bought a very similar dress from Nordstrom last month and it is literally 5x the cost. MY BAD, because this one is SOOO much better.
Cardigans – let’s talk cardigans. There are probably 10 cardigans that are a part of the sale. We tried on literally all of them. We are going to go into greater detail about this in a later post but this one here is my favorite. It is long, lightweight and incredibly soft. Then Ashley found THIS ONE — it is the least expensive longline cardigan of the whole sale and it is THE SOFTEST!
Now for Home Goods. As Ashley mentioned above, we are IN LOVE with the barefoot dreams blankets! I also fell in love with this blue and white china set. They have an adorable drink pitcher, measuring cups, teaspoons, a serving platter and the cutest little butter tray. Last but not least, I LOVE these chunky knit throws – the quality is amazing in person and these matching pillows are SO perfect.
As far as beauty and home items… I picked up a set of my favorite candles. If you haven’t tried these candles – you have no idea what you are missing. They make such great gifts as well! Like I said on stories yesterday, my favorite lip liner is on sale in an amazing kit, and the Bobbi Brown makeup kit is too. I love having the Bobbi Brown set because it is perfect to travel with! I bought this MAC nude lip set last year and LOVED it – I am buying this for my mom because I do every year, and she would never buy it for herself. 🙂 The Glopro set is amazing this year. It is a $360 value for $176.
Next… I scooped up some items for the kids. I bought Caroline this adorable Patagonia fleece for our Tahoe winters, I got the boys these north face puffers, and I buy these Hudson jeans every year for the them as well. They are super durable and SOOO stinking cute. Little mini skinny jeans.
Lastly for Joe… I got him this Barbour jacket. It is timeless, classic and something I hadn’t seen in years past.
