Easy & Healthy Greek Turkey Burgers

Reno, Nevada Blogger, Emily Farren Wieczorek shares her recipe for healthy Greek turkey burgers - the perfect and easy weeknight meal!

These easy & healthy Greek turkey burgers are delicious, full of veggies, and make the most simple/nutritious meal for the whole family!

First things first – let’s give credit where credit is due. My girlfriend from college, Angie, has a blog… Well And Strong With MS. She was diagnosed with MS shortly after getting married, and ever since, she has spent much of her adult life advocating for herself and others living with Multiple Sclerosis. Angie is a powerhouse. She runs her own business. She has a blog. She just brought her second beautiful baby into the world. She’s a dedicated wife… a loving daughter… a beautiful person inside and out… and somehow she still manages to get a healthy homemade meal on the table  EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. That being said… obviously I’ve been taking notes. So first and foremost, if you want healthy eating tips – follow Angie – she is where the idea for these healthy Greek turkey burgers came from.

Now Angie, if I butchered your recipe, I apologize. I saw it late one night scrolling through instastories… and I was literally salivating. I knew we had a bunch of ground turkey sitting in the fridge – waiting to go bad – and I thought to myself… “I’m gonna make those tomorrow.” So this is kind of a mix of her recipe and whatever I had laying around in the fridge/pantry. Also — speaking of Angie and college — these healthy Greek turkey burgers reminded me of this INCREDIBLE Greek restaurant we had right around the corner in Santa Clara. They served their french fries and burgers with this AMAZING kalamata mayo. I don’t know why, but this recipe reminded me of that dip – and I had to recreate it. It was AMAZING…. if I do say so myself! 🙂  I may keep a container of this dip in my fridge permanently. So I threw that recipe in here too.

The two things I love about this recipe. 1.) I usually think that turkey burgers are dry and taste kind of like sawdust. Not these. These healthy Greek turkey burgers are tender, juicy, and full of flavor. And 2.) This is one of those dishes that totally tricks your kids into eating veggies. It’s a WIN, WIN!

A couple of side notes about my cooking. I measure nothing. I am legitimately the worst at that. When I’m in the kitchen – it’s totally loosey goosey. :/ BUT… I tried to put something together with coherent measurements for you. Also – I tend to like salt and garlic. If you don’t like either of those ingredients… GET OUT.

Just kidding.

Feel free to omit whatever you don’t like. The beauty of turkey burgers is that you can’t mess them up.

Shop What I Used:

Ingredients:

Healthy Greek Turkey Burgers:

  • 16oz ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup of feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup of wilted spinach (literally just throw it in a pan for 2-3 minutes and give it a rough chop)
  • 3 cloves of garlic chopped
  • 1/4 red onion chopped
  • 4 roasted red peppers chopped – you can use fresh red bell peppers too

Tzaziki:

  • 2 cups of greek yogurt
  • Fresh Dill  – as much as you like – maybe 1 tablespoon
  • 1-2 garlic cloves chopped
  • The juice of half a lemon
  • 1/2 cup grated cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

Kalamata Mayo:

  • 1/4 cup of kalamata olives (pitted)
  • 1 cup of mayo
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

Directions:

  • I like to make my dips ahead of time so I can get them out of the way and let them marinate in the fridge. It lets all the flavors really marry together.
  • So… for the Tzaziki… throw all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix together, and chill.
  • For the Kalamata Mayo – throw all the ingredients in a mini food processor – blend together – put it in a bowl and chill.
  • Now for the turkey burgers. Take your meat and put it in a large mixing bowl
  • I LOATHE chopping of any kind at this point in my life. That being said… the mini food processor is my BFF. I literally chop all my ingredients in the mini food processor separately and then I add them to the turkey meat one by one. I’m lazy AF when it comes to cooking… what can I say?
  • In your mixing bowl – you should have all your greek turkey burger ingredients. Now.. get in there and mix with your hands.
  • Form the mixture into patties
  • Drizzle a sautee pan with some good olive oil, and cook the burgers on medium high heat for about 7 minutes on each side or until a meat thermometor reads 165 degrees.
  • Serve on a bun, or in a lettuce wrap with fries, veggies, whatever you want! Just don’t forget your dips and sauces on the side!
