My Wedding Skincare Plan with SkinSpirit

San Francisco blogger, Ashley Zeal, from Two Peas in a Prada shares her wedding skincare plan with SkinSpirit Palo Alto. We are also answering all of your skincare questions!

Well, we officially reached the 90 days until our wedding mark! So many things to do — but with the stress came some skin struggles. Getting off the pill sure didn’t help! So I entrusted my friends at SkinSpirit Palo alto to help me get my skin wedding ready. My goal is to have glowing skin by the time April 25th comes around. I went to see Jockleen for a facial, peel and microdermabrasion (check out my stories for full details)! And today, we are answering all of your skin questions! See my previous SkinSpirit posts here and here.

My routine (exactly what she did in my facial):

  1. Cleanse the skin, she used Revisions Brightening Cleasner.
  2. Prep skin for microdermabrasion.
  3. Microdermabrasion.
  4. Jan Marini Skinzyme mask – she used steam to help absorb.
  5. Extractions
  6. Jan Marini Cleanzyme..
  7. Resurface: Skin Bright by Dermaquest.
  8. Retinol Peel & Mask

She is going to check the progress of my skin in two weeks, and we are going to be dermaplaning! Stay tuned for that!

My Wedding Skincare Plan with SkinSpirit

What is the best way to get glowing skin at home?

The best at home ways to get glowing skin – try & incorporate a chemical resurfacer (glycolic or aha/bha) as well as a physical exfoliating a couple of times a week. NOT apricot scrub by St. Ives.

What is the best treatment for fine lines?

The answer is Botox, but there are a ton of products that can help. It’s never too early for a retinol to be incorporated into your skincare routine. It’s like working out for the skin & will help with those fine lines & wrinkles.

What are the best preventative anti-aging creams?

Be sure you’re checking the ingredients, look for Vitamin C,  C E Ferulicor Phloretin by Skinceutics or C-Esta by Jan Marini. For hydration look for hyaluronic acid. It is a great way to add moisture into the routine.

Best treatment or products for dark circles?

Dark circles can be caused by a number of things & pigment is tough to target but treatments like micro-penning can be helpful.  Products – Senté eye cream, DEJ eye cream.

Does a chemical peel help with age spots?

Chemical peels can help with age/sun spots but it’s best to consult with a professional to figure out which is best.

Best treatment for eye wrinkles (crow’s feet)?

For crows feet – Botox, a good retinol & always moisturize. Lots of water irregardless .

How to treat cystic acne?

For cystic acne – consult with a professional. This is tough to pinpoint without seeing your skin.

What do I do about the redness on my face?

Look into IPL  for products look for ingredients that are calming & soothing like Phyto Gel by Skinceuticals.

How often should I be using retinol or a chemical exfoliant?

Retinol should be used every night but depends on the individual. Make sure you’re using the right strength as well as building up tolerance. Start with every couple of nights for a week or so, every other night for a week or so & hopefully by then you can move to every night! Chemical exfoliant should be used 2-3 times per week depending on your skin.

What is the right order to apply skincare products?

Always apply thinnest to thickest. Example: Serum, vitamin c(AM) eye, retinol (PM) moisturizer, sunblock (AM).
